September 2016 Fishing Day

Stan Meholchick, owner of Juniper Ranch, each year hosts a day of fishing for residents of the Boise Veterans Home in the Spring and Fall. Poles and bait are provided by Howard Davis of Davis Tackle Shop in Nampa. Service members from Mountain Home Air Base and Gowan Field, as well as members of several Veterans Service Organizations, including American Legion Post and Squadron 39 of Middleton, turn out to assist.
On September 6, members of Middleton Post 39 and Middleton Squadron 39 arrived early to retire Stan’s old Colors. Later, after the veterans had arrived, they posted the new US, POW and Marine Corps flags. During the Posting, Larre` Robertson sounded To The Colors, then a 3-volley salute was fired followed by one of the service men from Gowan Field singing The National Anthem.
Stan Meholchick owner, Phil Hawkins Boise Veterans Home Activities Director, and Howard Davis of Howard’s Tackle Shop salute the Colors as they were raised.
